Blue Economy

Blue Economy describes the concept of sustainably using marine resources for economic purposes without compromising the health of the oceans. The aim is to combine economic benefit with marine conservation. Blue Economy includes sectors such as fishing, shipping, renewable marine energy, and coastal protection, with innovative technologies playing a central role. Offshore wind energy, for example, can be counted as part of the Blue Economy, as can the management of seagrass meadows.
