Marine Research

Marine research, also known as oceanography, is the study of the coasts and oceans. Since more than 70 per cent of the Earth's surface is covered by water, the oceans exert a huge influence on the climate and life on our planet. Marine research is therefore an interdisciplinary field that combines natural, social and human sciences. Its aim is to understand how the oceans function, their diversity, and the changes they undergo, in order to utilise their natural resources sustainably and record the impact of humans and climate change on marine ecosystems.
