Mussel bed
Mussel beds are accumulations of mussels lying close together on the seabed, forming stable structures. They filter large quantities of water, thereby improving its quality and providing a habitat for many marine organisms. They also act as natural breakwaters, protecting coasts and binding nutrients. However, in many regions, they are under threat from overfishing and environmental changes.
