Ecosystem Services
Ecosystem services are the benefits that humans receive from nature. These include clean air and water, protection from flooding, and fertile soils, for example. They also include recreation in nature. These natural processes support our lives and our economy, often without us realising it. The concept of ecosystem services is a way of visualising the value of these services. It also shows the actual cost of destroying the environment and nature.
