Plastic litter

Plastic litter is the most prevalent form of waste in the world's oceans, posing a significant threat to marine ecosystems. Every year, several million tonnes of plastic waste end up in the oceans, either via rivers and the wind, or by being dumped directly from ships. This waste collects in eddies, floats on the surface, or sinks to the seabed. Many marine animals mistake it for food or become entangled in it. The gradual decomposition of this waste into microplastics further exacerbates the problem.
