Environmental state of the north sea and baltic sea

Every six years, experts assess the environmental status of German marine areas. The 2024 report reveals that the German North Sea and Baltic Sea are in poor condition. Despite improvements in monitoring and assessment, the desired good status is still not being achieved in German waters in both seas. Pollution from eutrophication, pollutants, waste, and underwater noise are damaging marine ecosystems.
