Ice melt

The term 'ice melt' describes the melting of glaciers, inland ice and sea ice as a result of global warming. This phenomenon is particularly affecting the Arctic, Antarctic and mountain glaciers. The consequences are serious: sea levels are rising, habitats are changing, and the climate is becoming increasingly unstable. Melting sea ice also influences ocean circulation, accelerating the heating of water and the atmosphere as less sunlight is reflected and more heat is absorbed.
