Fishing quotas

Fishing quotas are a political tool used to regulate fishing. They determine the maximum amount of a certain species that can be caught within a given timeframe, in order to prevent overexploitation. These quotas are based on scientific recommendations and decided upon politically, taking ecological and economic interests into account. However, there may be deviations from the recommended catch quantities.
