Marine carbon storage
Marine carbon storage refers to the long-term sequestration of CO₂ in marine systems. The ocean can naturally reduce the greenhouse effect by absorbing CO₂ through processes such as photosynthesis by algae and seagrasses, or by storing it in sediments. Additionally, technological approaches such as increasing seawater alkalinity or storing CO₂ in the seabed are being discussed as potential climate protection measures.
